Below are key points on what clients can expect from Victim Services Counselling.

  • Emotional Support and Healing: Victim Services Counselling provides a supportive environment for individuals to process trauma, grief, and distress resulting from violent crime. It helps clients navigate the emotional challenges of anxiety, depression, and PTSD while working toward emotional well-being.

  • Coping Strategies and Recovery: Sessions are designed to assist clients in developing practical coping strategies for managing symptoms related to the crime, such as anxiety and depression, while helping restore a sense of safety and control in their lives.

  • Trauma-Informed Care: Victim Services Counselling is based on a trauma-informed approach, ensuring that clients feel safe, empowered, and in control of their healing process. This approach acknowledges the impact of trauma on an individual’s mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

  • Confidential and Non-Judgmental Support: All counselling sessions are confidential, offering a non-judgmental space where individuals can speak openly about their experiences without fear of stigma or judgment.

  • Flexible Delivery: Counselling can be offered face-to-face, via Telehealth, or in other accessible formats, depending on the individual’s needs and circumstances.

  • *NOTE* Eligibility for NSW Victim Services: Counselling is available to those who have experienced a violent crime in NSW, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and physical assault. This also extends to witnesses and affected family members. Services are accessible regardless of whether the crime was reported, but individuals must be approved by NSW Victim Services.
